Yes. Each pen leaves the factory with its valve closed. Shake with the cap on until the mixing ball rattles, then press the tip straight down on scrap paper until colour appears — white, the metallics and the broad tips take the longest.
Caps on firmly, away from heat and direct sun. Brush tips are best stored flat so the paint stays evenly through the fibres; bullet and chisel pens can stand up. Cases and storage.
